VETERINARY DRUG RESIDUES

Veterinary drugs are frequently used to treat disease and promote healthy livestock to improve the quality or yield of meat and animal products. Their use introduces the risk of veterinary drug residues and their metabolites in the animal products. Consequently, their presence in foods is tightly regulated. FAPAS attempts to use material containing incurred residues wherever possible. Click here to view the veterinary drug category list for details of potential residues in tests where only general categories are stated (this information can also be found on page 30 of the Food Chemistry Proficiency Test brochure).
