Almond ELISA Kit (AP1) - 48 wells
PRICE: $395.00
Almonds are consumed more than any other tree nut and is the tree nut mostly likely to be identified in food allergen recalls. BioFront's MonoTrace ELISA kit is best-in-class for Almond detection on foods, beverages and surfaces.

THE MONOTRACE ADVANTAGE
BioFront Technologies has developed the first comprehensive line of monoclonal antibody-based ELISA assay kits (MonoTrace ELISAs) for the detection of food allergen contamination in various food samples and environmental surfaces. The MonoTrace Almond ELISA incorporates the use of a precisely defined set of handpicked monoclonal antibodies selected after a rigorous screening process for their ability to:
- Target a highly stable Almond allergen resistant to food processing effects
- Recognize a carefully selected target protein to eliminate cross-reactivity and reduce the possibility of 'false positive' results
- Perform well in a wide variety of food products with negligible food matrix interference
CROSS-REACTIVITY
The assay exhibits strong reactivity to almond (Prunus dulcis) and to a lesser extent mahaleb (0.0546%), a spiceprepared from the pit of mahaleb cherry (Prunus mahaleb). Cashew (0.0316%), sunflower seed (0.0065%), and oat (0.0012%)were minimally reactive in the assay. At concentrations as high as 100,000 ppm, no cross-reactivity was observed in other tested matrices (including tree nuts, legumes, seeds, flour, meats and spices).
RECOVERY
The MonoTrace Almond ELISA kit is suitable for the qualitative or quantitative detection of almond in cake, cookie, chocolate, ice cream and various spices. Chocolate, ice cream and spice extractions required the addition of 5% (w/v) non-fat dry milk (NFDM) to the extraction buffer. This extraction additive is also needed for samples containing polyphenols, which include: chocolate, fruits, tea, coffee, red wine and soybean as well as others not listed here. Recoveries were acceptable according to current AOAC guidelines (J. AOAC Int. 2012). In summary, almond was efficiently extracted from diverse food matrices and spices using the MonoTrace Almond ELISA kit.
The MonoTrace Almond ELISA kit may also be suitable for use with other food matrices. Contact BioFront Technologies technical support (support@biofronttech.com) for assistance in determining whether your matrix-of-interest has been validated (cross-reactivity & recovery). An internal validation using an almond-spiked sample is recommended to ensure that almond is efficiently recovered before qualitative or quantitative results are obtained from the kit.
